TIRE REPAIR BASICS Today’s tires are engineered to last, so a puncture doesn’t have to mean replacement. But how do you know when repair is an option? What steps are involved? Würth recommends consulting with a trained technician and considering repairs only if damage is limited to the tread area. When repairing a tire, keep in mind the following criteria: • Tires must be removed from the rim/wheel assembly and inspected for all possible damage, including damage to the inner liner. • Tire repairs cannot overlap with other repairs. A rubber stem or plug must be applied to fill the puncture injury and a patch must be applied to seal the inner liner. (A plug alone is an unacceptable repair). WHY IS TIRE MAINTENANCE IMPORTANT? Tire maintenance is often overlooked because vehicle owners focus on various exterior aspects and functionality of the vehicle, such as the engine & radiator system, etc. The importance of properly maintaining a vehicle’s tires cannot be overemphasized, as tires are the only contact between a vehicle and the ground surface. Würth is committed to supplying the best quality products for your vehicle. With our quality products and regular tire maintenance not only will you have a better ride but it will also be more secure.
